Finding inspiration for your next trip

It’s always exciting to plan your next holiday. However you may not have a clear idea on where you want to visit, but are stuck on where to look for inspiration. Never fear, there are many options in front of you…

Ask around

Friends, family members and colleagues can be great sources of information when it comes to holiday destinations. Most of them will likely have been on a few holidays in their life and therefore can probably recommend a great spot. If you’ve got some idea of the location but no idea at all on the accommodation or airline, they may be able to help you out with that, too. What’s more, people love to talk about their vacations and share photographs, so capitalise on that!

Do some research

Read up on the world’s so-called ‘best’ destinations on the internet, or why not subscribe to a travel magazine? That way, you’ll get inspiration all year round and may be able to compile a list of your desired places to visit. Again, if you’ve a vague idea on the location you want to head to, travel books can prove to be a godsend, so stock up on these too.

Ask the experts

It’s no big sin to ask travel agents or online travel gurus where you should go on your next trip. Yes, the former are of course trying to make a sale, so will have benefits to offer on any location suggested, but they do actually know what they are talking about. If you have a strong enough will to simply get the facts you need, without signing up to anything, this could be a really useful option.

Investigate the stats

Try to find out the top ten most-visited locations in the past year, or other similar stats. This won’t necessarily help you make a decision, but it will certainly let you know what’s proven most popular in the past and when you think about it, something must have been great about these destinations to make them so loved! Once you’ve seen a shortlist, you can then do a little more research and if nothing more, it may introduce you to spots you wouldn’t necessarily have considered before.
